Kyle Abraham gehört zu den heiß gehandelten jungen Wilden des amerikanischen Tanzes. Er stellt die bekannten Genres nicht auf Podeste, sondern nimmt sich das Beste von Streetdance bis Martha Graham, von HipHop bis Ballett, um es in seiner verrückten Fusion aus Elitärem und Afro-Punk zu verbinden. Abraham tanzt zu Rap oder elegantem Jazz, zu treibenden elektronischen Rhythmen oder zu Stille. Mit einem Augenzwinkern nennt er seinen Stil gerne „postmodernen Eintopf“ – ein elastisches Jazzgefühl pulsiert in seinen Stücken, sie sind sinnlich und provokant, von hoher Geschwindigkeit und doch ganz klar. Als erster schwarzer Choreograph seit Jahrzehnten wurde Abraham zum New York City Ballet eingeladen, nach Stuttgart kommt er seiner eigenen Kompanie. Mit einem Stück des Gastchoreographen Doug Varone zeigt A.I.M vier Mal brandaktuellen New Yorker Tanz vom glitzernd-lässigen Wirbel bis zur leisen, fast improvisiert wirkenden Jazz-Meditation.
